portfolio work

2015 was a great year and my work has been going in a lot of great directions. 2016 will be continuing that trend as I continue to diversify and experiment.

Through out my 20s, making Dinnerware was my bread and butter and continues to have a very special place in my heart. All my objects revolve around an aesthetic that is beautiful and orgnic. You can see a strong influence from Asian Ceramics and Jade Works of all kinds which were a major topic of study through out my college years. I love the rich colors and subtle patterning that is peaceful and natural. I believe this work can bring a kind of beauty into a space that is calming and full of life. I love how these pieces can be serene and decadent.

And, of course, everything is Microwave/Dishwasher/Oven-Safe and completely non-toxic, so you can feel good about using them all the time.

Crystalline Work

Crystalline glazes are the pinnacle of Science combining with Aesthetics. They are the most challenging thing I could ever do with clay. They involve a computerized kiln, extremly specific requirements that literally boggle my mind and I would be lost without the help of my friend and Ceramic Chemist, Dr. Phil Hamling. Phil has been my mentor in this wonderful journey and he has taught me so many things related to process that our collaborations in clay have taken the form of life lessons.
I will do a more in depth write up detailing this insane and wonderful process, sometime in the near future.

Pop Mugs

Drawing on porcelain has been a perennial obsession that I just can't seem to shake. Despite the huge time investment, I love doing these. I cannot produce very many per year, but these are some of my favorite things to do. Each design I draw in pencil, brush over with a cobalt glaze and then cover everything in my Winter White glaze. They are made with a lot of love and have all the good qualities that my dinnerware has.

Get Hype for Manufacturing!

I have a top secret tool for potters that I am designing, refining and hoping to market later in 2016. This is my most exciting project to date, but after talking to a few Patent Lawyers, I can't give away the details yet. Get Hype, because this is going to be super sweet!
